FedEx Android App:
Rates & Breakdown Flow

Comparing shipping rates on FedEx's flaship app for Android is a critical experience for the user, and if it's not designed right, it could prove too cumbersome, and thus the user would move on to an alternate solution elsewhere.

The Problem

Users struggled with the rate breakdown experience when trying to select a service type to advance in the flow. Viewing the cost breakdown wasn't very visible or obvious for the user to tap on. In addition, in order to compare or choose different rates, the user had to use the back button all the way to rate list, proving way too frustrating for the user.

The Solution

I landed on an elegant solution that helped the user through the flow with less taps, provided an accordian link for the cost breakdown, while adhering to the FedEx design system. This way, the user can compare the rates on the same screen, with more prominence visually to the rate itself (for easier scan-ability).
